The soccer federation of Africa’s shining star – Ghana – has credited the country’s investment in soccer development programmes as the main reason for the Black Stars’ good form in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana Football Federation President Kwesi Nyantakyi says at least eight of the players – who represented Ghana and won the Under-20 African and World Youth Championships – have been inducted into the national side for the world cup.

Nyantakyi says despite the absence of Michael Essien from the African outfit, the youngsters including Andre Ayew have what it takes to go further in the tournament.
The Black Stars are the only African country which made it through to the final 16 in the tournament, and beat the USA to booked themselves a quarter final clash against Uruguay.
