Being a celebrity nowadays is big business, they don’t just focus on their core talent anymore, brand extension is an absolute must! And what’s one of the most popular ways to ensure that the personality stays firmly entrenched in our minds…to insert themsleves via our sense of smell, which is apprently one of the best ways memory association is created. Here are the offerings of some of your favourite recording artists.
Beyonce
Beyonce started out by endorsing Tommy Hilfiger’s True Star fragrances, and eventually released her own scents, Heat and Pulse. For a person who’s allegedly allergic to perfume, isn’t that a bit strange? (And blatant false advertising?!)
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey has various fragrances under her belt, most of which are inexplicably linked to buttefiles in one way or another! Last year, she launched a fragrance line called ” Lollipop Bling” because Nick Cannon hid her ring in a lollipop wrapper when he proposed. How sweet.
Taylor Swift
I will admit, I had a very vague idea of who she was before she was famously interrupted by Kanye, but she has since gone on to super-stardom, adoring teenage fans and her own fragrance as sweet and fairy-tale-princess-like as her. It’s called Wonderstruck.
Puff Daddy/ P Diddy/ Diddy/ Swag
He might have an inexplicable addiction to name changes (hey, we all have our kinks!) but nobody can deny his sheer money-making ability. Unforgiveable, the first fragrance he launched, was hugely successful and went on to have many spin-offs. For his latest fragrance, Empress, he has enlisted Kelly Rowland to be the face.
Rihanna
Of course Rihanna’s fragrance had to have some kind of rebellious connotation attached to it, it’s only to be expected! One has to wonder though, what exactly does “rebellion” smell like? Late nights, stale cigarettes and leftover pizza? Apparently not. |
