The Story of the Feather Awards
October 8, 2010 Lela 0 comments

It’s been a year since the inaugural Feather Awards shook up South Africa’s entertainment scene, and the industry hasn’t been the same since.  The loud, proud and boldly gay-friendly awards were conceptualised by Quad Republic’s Thami Kotlolo as a way of celebrating ‘fabulous’ individuals who inspired the gay community.

Introducing a list of audacious categories such as Fag Hag of the Year, Drama Queen of the Year and Socialite of the Year, as well as conventional ones such as Artist of the Year and Role Model of the Year,  the Feather Awards was a exuberant celebration of all that was glamorous, witty and gay-friendly in South Africa.  Whether gay, bi-sexual or straight, the inaugural Feather Awards saw a range of personalities across sports, media, business and entertainment claiming their prizes as Feather Awards winners.

This year, the  stakes are even higher, as a new list of celebrities make up the nominee list.  Representing all that’s gorgeous, cheeky and of course, fabulous, in South Africa, the 2010 nominees are sure to stir up a buzz and intense debate about who deserves to take the title.

This years event promises to be a firecracker, that’ll keep everyone talking until the 3rd edition!  The Feather Awards ceremony itself will take place on the 10th November.
