| The Hotbox: Big Nuz |
Exciting times on Yworld! We’ve got a hot new feature on The Joint; every week we’ll be profiling the artists interviewed on The Hotbox, which happens every Friday between 11 and 12 on The Face Off with Zama Dube.
Our first candidates are SAMA-winning kwaito supergroup, Big Nuz. I won’t lie, I’m a huge fan, their music just makes me so happy and brings out my one and only dance move (those who know me know it well!) Consisting of 3 very energetic members, namely Mampintsha, Danger and Mashesha, we all know the damage their music does to the dance floor, I’ve seen many ugly-faced Jika-Majika style moves done as “Umlilo” blasts away! These dudes, and the Durban scene as a whole have revitalized kwaito in a big way, and are the ones trusted to carry us through every festive season with a “song for December”.
They currently have two tracks on rotation at Yfm; “Stingray” and “Serious”, and as usual, I’ve seen many hips gyrating to their tunes, mostly trying to emulate Mampintsha’s trend-setting moves! Don’t miss The Hotbox if you want to learn more about the inspiration and motivation behind their winning formula! |
