Motshidisi Mohono

News Anchor and Reporter

Motshidisi MohonoBrief intro

I’m Motshidisi Mohono – a hard-working, fun-loving, dedicated and dynamic person who has a passion for radio.

Brief professional background

I worked at UJFM for eight months, reading news on the breakfast show, before my big break here at Yfm.

What is your position & how do you spend your work time?

I am a News Anchor and Reporter. I source, write and present the news here at Yfm. I’m on desk from 5am until 9am – Monday to Friday – and I then report breaking news for midday bulletins.

When did you get your break in radio?

March 2008, I came here for an interview and the rest is the present.

What’s the best thing about the job?

I love my job because it puts me in a position to meet great leaders and other interesting personalities here in Mzansi. I also get to keep people informed.

What’s the worst thing about the job?

The VERY early mornings!

Why do you prefer radio over print media?

Radio is immediate – it’s “now”, so I don’t have to wait for tomorrow’s paper to hear about something that is happening today.

What was your most embarrassing moment on air?

My first time on air was embarrassing. I don’t remember making any mistakes but I was really nervous so I’m sure my voice was all over the place!

Are social networking websites [Facebook, Twitter etc] good for journalism?

Yes. People want information at the touch of a button and these mediums make this possible. They also make news accessible to everyone, no matter where you are in the world.
