ANC will not charge Vavi
The ANC has backed down on its decision to investigate a possibility of charging Cosatu secretary Zwelinzima Vavi with bringing the party into disrepute.
The party’s National Working Committee – which met yesterday – said it would instead call a meeting with Cosatu bosses.
Vavi had accused the ANC and the President Jacob Zuma administration of tolerating corruption especially when it involves ANC leaders and ministers.
Unions aligned to Cosatu threatened to break-away from the ANC alliance if the party charged Vavi.
