More than 340 000 Gauteng residents have been tested for HIV since the launch of the HIV Counselling and Testing campaign - in April.

This puts GP ahead of other provinces – with local authorities saying they hope ro have tested 3.3 million people by June next year.

The provincial government also plans to test one million public sector employees over the next two days

Provincial Department Spokesperson – Mandla Sidu says the response by residents has been good and the department is well on its way to reching its target.
