Slick MTV base video jock Sizwe Dhlomo is living his life to the full right now, nearly four years after winning MTV base’s first ever VJ hunt in Africa. At 25, Sizwe has just completed the third season of Player, MTV base’s hot music and entertainment show, which has taken him to London, New York and cities all over Africa in a tireless quest for everything that’s cool and credible.
Player began life in 2007 as a weekly half hour TV programme on MTV base, showcasing urban culture in Africa and the rest of the world – profiling the best in music, film, technology and youth trends. Key elements of Player Season III include the introduction of multiple on-location shoots (including New York City), the exclusive premiere of two of the hottest new music videos every week, celebrity reviews of the latest electronic gadgets, up-to-the minute entertainment news, a guide to the week’s hottest gigs, and interactive slot, My Mobie, in which would-be stars submit content to the show via their camera phones.
A lighthearted mix of the latest international and African entertainment news, red hot interviews and the latest music from around the world, Player gives Sizwe’s many fans a new excuse to get up close and personal with one of Africa’s most wanted presenters! In what’s left of his spare time, Sizwe still has the energy to front up MTV Advance Warning with Zain, MTV’s hot Nigerian music slot which aims to give advance warning on the emerging stars on the Naija music scene.
The tireless presenter has also been busy working on MTV Making the Video Challenge with Shell, a brilliant project where MTV brings together African artists and video directors with international video directors to create brand new music videos. And that’s not to mention his work on MTV TRL Radio on both TV and radio.
I’ll let you know about my appearances later. Keep checking.
