He is the definition of versatility and diversity. A presenter, an actor, a radio host, a man of impeccable style and taste. The ambassador for popular South African youth brand Ama Kip Kip and Nike.

Born in Port Elizabeth on the 16th April 1982, as Siyabonga Ngwekazi, “Mbombo” as his home province calls him, was from a young age interested in the arts and in entertainment. However, growing up in Port Elizabeth, which is a small slow town, the dream was too far, so it seemed. So he devoted his energy to education and sports becoming the first black Head boy for his Primary School.

Which is an honour given to the student who performs exceptionally academically and carries themselves as an example. As for sports, basketball was the sport of choice and as short as he was, even there he excelled. Representing his country at age16 all the way up to national level. Little did he know that he would grow up to spearhead a generation with his energy, passion, style and alternative “cuteness”.

Fast forward to 2010 where he is a seen as a taste maker, a connector, your custodian, interpreter and tour guide to the streets and urban youth culture. These are not just words, they are backed up by fact as the brand he started in 2007 with his still now partner Nkosana Modise, called Ama Kip Kip has scooped up 2 awards already.

One for being the coolest and most recognisable youth brand in South Africa when they scooped up the “Youth Brand” of the year at the Youth Brand Awards last year and also the Nedbank’s Youth Market Awards also last year.

Here is how it all happened:

2000-2003 was a commentator for the basketball show called Slam Dunk (Cape Town)

2004 was the Sam Dunk commentator, scriptwriter, producer and Presenter (Cape Town)

2005-2007 head hunted by Black Rage Productions to present the urban youth, prime time show called Street Journal and this presented the big move to the city of lights and dreams, Jo’Burg

2007 started the label Ama Kip Kip

2008 was the face of the Smirnoff SX10 tour which included trips to Russia, France, Italy, U.K., China and the Americas interviewing some hottest names in music, including Pharrell Williams, Duran Duran, and Kellis to mention but a few.

2008 was the M.C. of the Metro FM’s Awards

2008 presenter of Real Ghoboza, an entertainment magazine show on S.A.B.C. 1.

2008 got his first acting job as a integral cast member of the drama series, Gugu and Andile

2008 was Neuron in the educational science and technnolgy show called Agent Fab

2009 hired by DSTV to be the face of their new channel, 123 is the dial for the channel Vuzu

2009 became part of the dynamic duo called Siz n’ Scoop on YFM’s still on going weekend morning shows. Also catch the duo on Thursday Nights 22:00-24:00 for their strictly hip hop show.

2008, 2009, 2010 3 years and counting seeing as 1 of the judges for the highly renowned South African Music Awards.

2010 was just chosen by Nike Global to be a part of their 2010 campaign which start rolling out in South Africa from March and will continue till the end of the soccer world cup.

I’ll let you know about my appearances later. Keep Checking.
