Brief professional background
Faith Mangope is a Wits University graduate, majoring in International Relations and Industrial Psychology. Working first as a promoter, she earned her radio stripes by working as executive producer on shows such as The John Robbie Show, Early Breakfast with Udo Carelse, Afternoon Drive with David O’Sullivan, and Talk At Nine on Talk Radio 702. She is currently pursuing her honours degree in Industrial Psychology.

Faith Mangope is YFM’s Current Affairs host.
When did you get your break in radio?
Faith obtained her break in radio just after completing her first year in university in January 2007.
What’s the best thing about the job?
The best thing about my job is meeting the calibre of influential personas on a daily basis, and being able to establish relationships with them.
What’s the worst thing about the job?
The worst thing about my job is having to develop a thick skin in order to survive the media industry as it doesn’t always go your way.
Why do you prefer radio over print media?
I prefer radio because I see it as a tool to becoming a well respected broadcaster in South Africa, and hopefully some day worldwide.
What was your most embarrassing moment on air?
An embarrassing moment a day, is my life everyday.
Are social networking websites [Facebook, Twitter etc] good for journalism?
Yes as they allow for mass interaction, and who knows, you might get a scoop!
