    Bad news coming out of Ghana is that midfielder - Micheal Essien has been ruled out for atleast 6 weeks following a torn ligament in his left knee. Chelsea will suffer the worst as the The Bison will miss a derby match against Arsenal and the first leg of the Champions League tie against Inter Milan.

The duo of Fourie and Habana could be used as an alternative backline combination to the one the coach would prefer using by the start of the Super 14 tournament. Stormers coach Allister Coetzee will likely utilise Willem De Waal at flyhalf - with Peter Grant moving from flyhalf to inside centre as a partner to Fourie.

    Defending Aussie Open Champion - Serena Williams walked into the first Grand Slam of the year with a bang follong a straight sets victory over Poland's Urszula Radwanska. Williams who showed some signs of injury with a heavily strapped on her right thigh took only 77 minutes to record a 6-2 6-1 victory. The World Number 1 had too much fire power for the 19 year old Polish as she hit 26 winners on her way to challenge for a 12th Grand Slam title.

  • Essien to play for Ghana
    Chelsea's midfielder Michael Essien has joined up with his team mates for tomorrow's African Cup of Nations encounter against Ivory Coast. Essien arrived in Angola yesterday after his departure was delayed by the unfriendly weather in the United Kingdom. The Black Stars had fears of not having the services of Essien but the Chelsea midfielder has recovered from a hamstring injury and is likely to face a fitness test before Ghanaian coach Milovan Rajevac decides whether he will play.
